Elliot Institute Statement on Killing of Dr. George Tiller

May 31, 2009 (Springfield, IL) -- The Elliot Institute has released the following statement in response to the shooting death of Dr. George Tiller in Kansas:

"The Elliot Institute has learned with shock and sadness of the shooting death of Dr. Tiller in Kansas. We strongly condemn the use of violence and deplore actions that would take the law into one's own hands.

"We pray for the soul of Dr. Tiller, for his family and for all those involved in this incident. And we continue to peacefully press for a society where the rights of both mothers and their unborn children are protected."
