From TheUnChoice.com -- an evidence-based Elliot Institute campaign to raise awareness about unwanted abortions, post-abortion issues and maternal deaths, plus help, hope and healing. ... The UnChoice. Unwanted. Unsafe. Unfair.

Planning Calendar:

Events, Opportunities and Supporting Evidence-Based, Pro-Woman/Pro-Life Resources

Update your outreach with the "big picture" evidence of abortion's injustice and risk to the rights and lives of both the unborn and women. Incorporate the Elliot Institute's pro-woman/pro-life, evidence-based resources and project ideas into your education and outreach plans this year and next.

The Elliot Institute continues to document and share important evidence of abortion's impact, including its injustices and exploitation of women. This includes widespread medical, institutional and/or personal coercion, negligence and related abuses, plus other risks and aftereffects. Our research is published in academic medical journals and used in America's courtrooms, classrooms and congressional halls, plus other influential decision-making, policy-making and legislative arenas.

We have distilled much of this valuable information into user-friendly materials that are suitable for educating the general public and varied audiences. You can use these resources to reach people and save lives, often two at a time, while also changing public attitudes about abortion.

Upcoming opportunities include: pro-life state and county fair booths; Suicide Prevention Week and media discussions about suicide in September; Signature Ads, rallies and other annual right-to-life events and outreach in October and January; election season voter education; and Thanksgiving, Christmas and other holiday season education/outreach opportunities.

July through November: Elections and Voter Education
Use our What Every American Needs to Know postcards or flyers, and the Forced Abortion in America fact sheets, flyers or 26-page report, to expose "pro-choice" rhetoric by showing America's anti-choice reality. These resources expose abortion's heartbreaking, even deadly, abuses and the aftereffects for mothers, dads and families.

August: State Fair Booth Outreach and Other Opportunities
Our State Fair Booth Education/Outreach Materials will help you present a holistic, evidence-based pro-woman/pro-life message that shows how abortion endangers the rights and lives of both unborn children and their  mothers.

September: Suicide and Abortion Awareness, Prevention, Help, Hope and Healing
Several national and international organizations participate in suicide awareness and outreach in September, including Suicide Prevention Week (Sept. 9-15), World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept. 10) and similar events. This means that the suicide issue will be in the media, so it's a good time to seek media coverage.

Share information about abortion's link to higher suicide rates among teens and women of all ages. Tell parents and the public about the heartbreaking reality of unwanted, coerced or forced abortions in America and elsewhere, and the risk of post-abortion suicide for teens, women and men. Learn more and share information from our Suicide page, Teens at Risk page and Men, Abortion and Suicide article. See our sample PR tips and tools for more ideas and resources (and see more September ideas and resources.)

Back-to-School Education, Lesson-Planning and Outreach Opportunities
Teach, inspire and reach out to youth; warn parents about the risks to their teens; donate books to school libraries; and share other research and resources in lesson plans, civic outreach, and more. You can help save lives today while you also educate, encourage, transform and inspire tomorrow's leaders.

You'll find a wealth of well-cited, user-friendly and evidence-based information at TheUnChoice.com, AfterAbortion.org (the Elliot Institute's main site), AbortionRisks.org, (a wiki-style clearinghouse with information about abortion's harm, abuse and risks to teens, women and others) and StopForcedAbortions.org (legislative initiatives) to use in essays, speech contests, lesson planning, youth group and civic activities, social outreach, and more.

October and January: 40th Anniversary Right-to-Life Events
Share pro-woman/pro-life Signature Ads, other ads and educational materials, rally signs and posters, and hats and other apparel (to wear at rallies or anytime). Update and refresh the debate during this tragic 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. October is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This is a great time to educate people about the irony of unwanted, coerced and forced abortions -- evidence that exposes abortion's abuse of women's rights and renders "pro-choice" rhetoric meaningless. (See the main calendar for links to these resources.)

November and December: Christmas Season Outreach
Share our Thanksgiving-through-New Year's Holiday Season ads/flyers and Christmas ads/flyers to educate the public and save lives -- the lives of both unborn babies and their mothers and fathers who are at risk for unwanted abortions, or post-abortion trauma or even suicide -- a heightened risk at this time of year.

Also, don't forget to check our Message Shop for meaningful Christmas gift ideas for compassionate friends and family, from our blessing ornaments and keepsake boxes to rally-ready hats, mugs, totes and apparel. Consider giving them a book, too! And seebelow for reminders about using GoodSearch, GoodShop and GoodDining this time of year as a painless way to support this work.

2013: Two Anniversaries, One with a Silver Lining
Sadly, this year marks the 40th anniversary of abortion-on-demand in America. The lives lost -- including babies and mothers -- have reached unfathomable proportions. In some cases, fathers have taken their own lives, too, or have lived in quiet post-abortion regret, grief or despair. But the tide is turning. And this year also marks the "Silver Anniversary" of the Elliot Institute. For 25 years, our research, education and outreach have documented and shed light on abortion's unthinkable legacy and impact, providing new evidence and impetus to change course.

This dual-anniversary year is a good time to use our "40 Years Too Long" Signature Ad or regular ad/flyer. These and other resources help expose the general public -- including leaders and policy-makers -- to the truth about some of the most deceiving myths upon which Roe v. Wade was based and the reality of abortion's tragic abuses, injustices, risks, realities and aftermath.

If you support this information and materials -- which have been used to change the culture in legal, medical, academic, social services and other education, outreach and policy-making arenas -- please keep this going by praying for us and joining us. Please consider making a Silver Anniversary donation to the Elliot Institute.

April 2013: Annual Church Awareness Project and Coerced Abortion Awareness Week
Our 3rd Annual Coerced Abortion Awareness Week (coming up in April) is part of the Elliot Institute's Church Awareness Project. Sign up for our  free email list to join the outreach, and download materials and ideas from our blog. Share your ideas and results on our blog, and plan ahead to share The Jericho Plan and plan other events in your church.

Check our events calendar for more ideas and links to these and other projects. The calendar also features links to appropriate resources for education and outreach. Use this helpful planning tool to supplement or expand your existing events and activities.

Help Support Valuable Research, Education and Outreach

The UnChoice Campaign is an evidence-based, pro-woman/pro-life education and outreach project of the Elliot Institute. The Elliot Institute's peer-reviewed academic research and other expertise and information is used in important legal, judicial, legislative, medical, social services and other policy-making arenas to document abortion's exploitation, injury and heartbreak to the rights and lives of both the unborn and mothers.

Our information and materials are also helpful in deterring  abortions and saving lives of unborn children and mothers, while also encouraging various audiences and leaders to rethink their assumptions about abortion.

Due to the urgency and potential of this message, we invite you to use our downloadable resources (including many of those above) free of charge. However, if you are able to make a donation, however small, it will support and speed this work.
